Roof Insulation - what to use?

Our roof is going on next week and I was wondering what is the best option for insuation between rafters.

Should I use a cosy board 50mm of 62mm or just use ordinary slabs with insulation boards behind them?

Anyone heard of the superfoil insulation or even used it?

Any help here would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Wardwil, I assume from your post you mean insulation on the slope of a roof. Firstly I've heard of some of these foil insulations and would strongly reccomend that you do not touch it unless there is an Irish or british agrement certificate for use as an insulation (not a vapor barrier!!) available. I would reccomend that the minumum insulation that you use is 100mm kingspan (or quinntherm, extratherm) between the rafters with a 38mm minimum kingspan (or other) insulated plasterboard (25mm insulation) underneath. You have to acheive compliance with the building regulations Part L 2005 in your case

You shoud ask your supervising architect / enginneer what specification they reccomend and will sign off on.
