Anybody been to the Nurburgring? Planning to make a long weekend trip in September.
Would like to hear from anyone who has been over regarding a good route to take and which ferry to take?

    Thanks.

Drove through UK and channel tunnel, then its motorway for most of it. Just bring a sat nav and you'll be fine. Road around the area are great to drive also. Stay in the Nurburgring Hotel, all the rooms are facing out on the track, very cool, I woke up to a Jaguar XKR racing by my window. Make sure when you get to the entrance early as it can get pretty packed on a nice weekend, I think it was €16 for 4 laps???

You'll be knackered after the first lap just concentrating on not crashing, if you do have an accident and close the track they'll charge you for every minute its closed and any damages to the barriers etc....so basically don't risk it all. They don't allow you to film anymore but once you get out on track you can whip out the camera. Keep you eyes in your rear view mirror as there is always someone racing up behind you, there's a petrol station near by where everyone fuels, hang out there and you'll see some awesome machines. There is also an industrial estate where all the manufacturers are based, have a look around and you'll see some cool stuff, test cars etc....

If you are a first timer DO NOT go there on a weekend, the place is mental on the weekends and the track will be full of seriously quick machines a percentage of which will be driven by knob ends.

During the week(summer) the track is only open to the public in the evenings times quoted are usually 7 - 9 but it usually opens earlier so hang around, there car park will have a good few cars in it but notihng compared to weekends where the queue can be out past the entrance roundabout and down the road parallel to the main straight, don't worry you will still get your chance to eye up plenty of special cars esp if you go and watch the manufacturer testing sessions, you are liable to see anything.

Plenty of places to stay in the area, you can go guest house for cheap enough or splash out and stay in the Dorint this overlooks the F1 track and you never know what you might see out on that. The underground carpark in the Dorint is also petrol head heaven.

A great website to check out for everything nurburgring is ben lovejoys site
