I would like to offer the sympathy of the athletics community to the family and friends of Sheila Brennan on her untimely death.
Sheila was the fixtures secretary for the Dublin County Board and was very much the public face of juvenile athletics in the county. She brought her natural enthusiasm and energy to the role and epitomised everything that is good about the volunteers that run our sport.
Sheila attended the graded meeting on Wednesday evening in Irishtown and as usual was in the middle of the proceedings ensuring that the evening ran smoothly. Her death has left a massive void in the sport both in Dublin and also at a national level.
Ni bheidh a leitheid ann aris.

Very very sad. A huge loss to juvenile athletics in Dublin. Sheila, Aine Pobjoy and Breda Synnott did so much for so many over the years.

I was at the Mass on Saturday and as very impressed by the huge turn out from the Athletic clubs. Big loss to the Dublin Athletic Board and MSB..I had very fond memories of Sheila over the years from the early years of my running when it was BLOE..Our thoughts and prayers are with her son John and family.

    R.I.P Sheila.

Working with her I can tell you that she put a lot of effort into the athletics (she even got a good few of us involved in helping her with entering results etc.)

She will be sadly missed amongst her colleagues in Folens Publishers. Gone but never forgotten. We will miss you always.
