Guys, any ideas what sort of jump in bhp I could get out of a standard E60 520d. I think it has 166 bhp as standard.

Any idea of the cost too ?

    Check out http://www.chippedire.com

There's a menu on the left hand side where you can look up the results of chipping for your BMW.

    what year is the car?

the 163bhp version wgich is the same as in my 320d can be remapped to 200bhp. mine was done recently and rolling roaded the following week at 190bhp and 272 Ft Ibs of torque, now i dont know the before figure so i dont know the exact jump in figures but on the road its 100% noticeable.

    i used www.autoremap.ie

if tou have the newer 177bhp version, then i think 210-215 bhp is easily reached.

cost is about €350-€400 or there abouts, we got the group buy for 300 iirc?

for some reason the 520d isint listed, better off giving them a phone call to confirm the figures.

The manual box in the e60 is great for coping with the Torque from a remap in the 520d,
If you do happen to follow through with it get on to ECC up north,Absolute wizards of remaps on diesels. And will also dyno your car as proof of before and after

slightly old thread I know, but if I remap my 520d (or any car for that matter), do I have to declare it to the insurer, do they care, or is it impossible to detect?

EDIT: answered my own Q here:

remaps should be declared. (Although I can't imagine how an insurance company would detect them)

better off declaring them as your paying alot of money for a piece of paper from your insurance company if you dont.

is the 163bhp version safe enough at 210bhp?
mine only made 190bhp on CDA's dyno but in fairness it had 120k on it at the time!

impressive figures and the torque is more than my standard Evo 5 from a few years back!!!!
