I used to cycle to school everyday 2 years ago.
Lately i've wanted to get fit, and i'm looking to cycling for that.

I also like seeing stuff, like cycling to other towns or parts of Ireland.
I live in south dublin, killiney.

Wondering if anyone could help me with selecting equipment and some suggestions and routes! Have about 200e to spend on stuff! thanks

The only recommendation I have for this budget is to increase it. Anything under 200e won't be very good, won't last very long and won't be comfortable.

Apart from that, your list of requirements is a bit vague.

Budget can't increase more unfortunatly. Although it might increase to something like 250 or so. I'm 17 so i dont have a need for luxery!
I survived on a 120e bike during the school cycling years, didnt really have a problem with comfort..

Looking for a normal road bike, my requirments are vague because I'm not looking for something specific, just something that works..
    Newbie cycler :P

I'm just completely lost when it comes to cycling!

Maybe save up for a while. Plus I think going up Killiney hill will make you very fit smile.gif

Hmm, 250 is with a bit of saving haha!
Lots of others things to buy, going to oxegen this thursday, bringing 100e for that..

Dont know about going up a hill over and over, want to see more of dublin/wicklow, so more distance than uphill

I'm really waiting for the day when someone starts one of these numerous "What bike should I buy" threads and says they've €3-4k to blow on it. That'll be a fun day :D

Goddamit it's cyclIST, serious pet hate of mine. Some people have said to me ah does it really matter, but yes changing the suffix completley changes a word, for example, racer vs racist.

Heh, if you want to see Wicklow there will be plenty of uphill! But also downhill!

With a budget that small you'll definitely need to look second hand. Plenty of good deals online and also in many suburban bike shops do second hand bikes. I think you'll find something. I got my road bike in Little Sport, Fairview for just €75 in October.

    Hey Brittain,

try Bikerack on Johnstown Rd, Cabinteely near enough to you!

Like yourself I was on a bit of a tight budget, but I got a second hand road bike there two months ago for €200. It's a good few years old and probably a bit heavier than your average road bike, but so far it's running great....no problems at all! And it's quite a step up from the mountain bikes I've been cycling around the roads on all my life...

Have a look in there anyway, they'll give you a few euro off helmet, pump etc. if you buy something and you'll get a year warranty aswell!

P.S. I can assure you I don't work there, before anyone says anything!
