    Hi All

Just back from completing the Ring of Kerry. Great day except i had a problem with MY Garmin Edge 705. After about 90k, it seems to have lost the conection to the Ireland Map! It recorded all the relevant information and I managed to save the file. I can view the file on the Garmin itself, but neither Sport-tracker or Garmin Connect will recognize the file.

Anyone any suggestions as to how i can rectify this? many thanks

Zip it up, and attach it to this mail, and I'll have a look.

Here's a fixed version of your file. Some of your data was corrupted - I'm not sure how much of it you've lost. Impressive cycle!

Cheers Krusty. I'll check it out this evening. Can I ask how you managed to fix it? Is there software out there that repairs/reads corrupt files?.

Yeah it was agreat cycle, weather was good (except for some rain at the start) and the Ring Of Kerry Cycle is very well organised. Pleanty of food at the stops, support vehicles etc. Great day.

I upgraded the software on the Garmin last night, so hopefully I won't have this problem again.

Thanks very much for your help.

    Steps:
    1) I tried to open it up in Garmin Training Centre. It told me that the file was corrupted.
    2) Opened it up in a text Editor (it's a big file, make sure you choose an editio that supports large files). Saw a huge section of corrupted data. Deleted this. There's no way to recover the lost data.
    3) Opened it up in an XML Editor, to make sure that the tags are matching. Found several redundant tags. Removed these (where the opening tags would have been in the corrupted data). Tried to save. XML Editor reported a number of missing tags. Added these.
    4) Save
    5) Open in Garmin Training Centre
    6) Tada!
