    Hi all

Any advice as to where I can get 'touch up Paint' in Dublin?

I scratched my paintwork slightly - was my own fault, I was not paying enough attention to what I was doing :o.

Halfords is good for that kind of thing. There's one on the Malahide Road in Coolock.

    Actually for my bike :o.

Its a Honda if that makes a difference.

I'd be inclined to go back to the Honda bike dealer for it (not sure if paint codes are shared with the cars?)

Dublin Honda bike dealers are Ballymount Honda and Bikeworld (longmile road) or Megabikes on Wexford Street.

I wouldn't trust Halfords 100% to match the paint.

I got a perfect match from eBay. Managed to find via google the right part number first

I always buy my touch up paint from a main dealer. It really is not that expensive and the colour is matched perfectly via your car's chassis number. The most I ever paid for it was around €10.

Hey, I was wondering about this also, generally people don't advise going to Halfords but I was wondering would other motor factors do touch up paints or is it just Halfords and Main dealers. What about online, if I have the right codes should be ok? Its a 97 Honda Civic.

I'll probably just go to main dealer tbh, as its only 10 quid or so.

Other thing, I've looked at a couple of videos online, but has anyone any good tips for when touching up?

    paints4u.com

They deliver to Ireland, just email them beforehand.

No point getting spurious touch up! I've done it before and the colour doesn't match (sister's blue corsa, Halfords)

Get to your Honda dealer. It was about a fiver ex-VAT for Honda Nighthawk black last time I bought some. You get two nail varnish like bottles. One metallic and one lacquer and fine grade sanding pencils/alcohol wipes all in a nifty Honda case.

Don't forget to try compound before going getting touch up paint. Depending of course on how deep the scratch is. Rub it, if you can feel it badly its too deep for compound

As long as you're not fussy, a touch up pen will be fine. If you are fussy, it may well be an incorrect colour. For example, Toyota's Plantinum Colourcode has over 17 different shades in my software system, all under the same name and colour code, and all slightly different.

I dropped into Honda dealers yesterday, was a bit late though and Honda themselves were closed so staff member took my number and paint code said he'd ring me back. He did say though that it might not be available anymore as the colour hasn't been used in a long time.

Its Matador Red colour code R93-P, I also checked Halfords they don't have it available as one of their premade sets, it would have to be made up in shop.

Scratches are too deep for cutting compound need a bit of paint in them.

If I can get in from Honda great if not I'm not too fussy and may just go with Halfords or some other paint shop made up one.

Thanks for the help and I'll be back looking for advice on doing it when I get hold of some anyway.

Honda car touch-up cost me a tad over €6. No reason not to get it from them at that price.
