It seems to be an Eircom internet problem rather than a Facebook problem. Works fine for me using NTL, but just saw on Twitter that people are complaining about Eircom connections dropping and redirecting to bogus search pages.

  • Registered Users Posts: 58 ✭✭shinobi2600

theres another post in the broadband section, seems to be DNS problems with eircom.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,590 ✭✭✭Pigwidgeon

hmm my internet has been a bit dodgy all night and msn told it was something to do with DNS earlier on...

  • Registered Users Posts: 58 ✭✭shinobi2600

the people on that post suggested to change your DNS servers to openDNS.com's servers, i did that on my router and alls good now that i'm not using eircoms DNS servers.

    OpenDNS:
    Primary: 208.67.222.222
    Secondary: 208.67.220.220

I've seen that picture before on clients system, you have a virus.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware you may have to download to from another pc and rename the file depending on the virus/malware your infected with.
    {Also manually download the upgrades and rename then as well, it the open disappears when you open it rename it as well.}

its eircoms DNS servers acting up, a lot of people are getting that same image, when you change off their DNS servers it stops, i have already checked for virus and the lot and that aint it

Yeah it has to be eircom it's messing up big time with everything from Rapidshare to bloody youporn goddammit!

It's a bloody nuisance but I guess Eircom are the best and thankfully they don't have this often.

How do you change the dns shinobi mate?

  • Registered Users Posts: 58 ✭✭shinobi2600

im not too sure with the eircom netopia routers unfortunately, my router i just log into it and click DNS setting and it lets me just type in the address, sorry i cant be of much more help.....maybe if you head over to the broadband section someone would be able to tell you how to do the eircom routers

There's a problem with Eircoms DNS server atm, causing a lot of issues of similar results to yourself OP.

    I quietly agree though! :D

Thats a permanent condition dear! ;)

Go with BT Ireland! Cheaper, faster and more reliable.
