    01 Fiesta Zetec 1.2

i notice a little water on the rubbers along bottom of drivers door. I am not sure if there is a leak or is it just rain while door open.

I thought I would go through car wash to see. What is the best car wash? I seem to remember reading the Tesco one is hard on paint. What about tghe one where they use a power hose which washes and waxes i think?

    Thanks

You will get water along the door seals if it has been raining, it's normal. If it's finding it's way into the car, you will want to get it checked out - check your carpets for damp patches or puddles.

Water along the bottom of the door is quite normal because the rain move down the seals and the door simply by the force of gravity really.

Did Bond not give a fish away when that came out of the water? Not very water proof if a fish can get it, just had a brilliant bilge pump:D

it is on the rubber seal alone the bottom of the door a little pool. Stays on top of rubber but if i touch it rund in to car just a wee drop. I am wondering if it is from the underside of the door when it closes

is there anyway i can check it myself. i thought of sticking some masking tape along the rubber and go thru a car wash and the see where the tape is wet?

If you have to manipulate the water to come into the cabin, it doesn't necessarily mean it's getting in by itself. Water will run along the bottom of the door, but the seal should stop it getting in.

Water leaks are pain in the hole to diagnose - I wouldn't waste my time with tape. To do it right, you'll have to pull out the seat (at least) and have someone with a water hose going around the door seal to see if the water is coming in. The worse-case scenario would involve removing trim pieces and carpet to establish exactly where the water is coming in.

This is only applicable if there is water getting in, though.

it is on top of the seal but i think now as today was wet i watched it and think it just lands on the seal when i get in and out

The dealer adjusted the door buttoday I discoverd the car is wet under the carpet. There is a spongy thing under the carpet and that is wet as is the floor under that about from the door to half the width of the drivers seat. I don't think it come down thru the carpet as i have a rubber mat.

Would warranty cover that. i must ring the consumer folk tomorrow . Meanwhile, any suggestions welcome

Ford warranty wouldn't cover it, a used car warranty might, if you were still covered.

You would have to talk to the dealership to see if any goodwill was offered.
