Programme on RTE 2 tonight about GAA players getting trials to play in the AFL. Should be a good watch!

Just watched it - interesting programme

The agent didnt really come across well - bit of a swarmy git but what can you expect from an agent!! What really irked me was when he was asked what he can offer players going to Oz - money, stardom and a 'Modern Country' - since when has Ireland not been a modern country??

Then the Sports editor from the Melbourne Age, another idiot and the columist from the same paper who said that the GAA could not continue as an amateur sport - what would she know?? Loved how Tom McGuirk responded to that :D

Seems pretty keen on Tommy Walsh though...

Im personally not against lads wanting to lo at Aussie Rules as an option but like Mickey Harte said, beware of vested interests!!

Tom McGurk came across as a bitter berk.

I think if lads have the skills to go over, then why not.
They wont all make it and they will come back to Ireland better, stronger, fitter players - aislin o halpinn and Nicolas Walsh(cavan) come to mind.

it's an interesting program. slimey agent - there the same in every sport!

Unfortunately I missed it but hopefully it will go up onto the RTE Player thing tomorrow so I'll give it a watch then. By the sounds of it its worth a look!

Must see if I can track this down later. Don't suppose there's much chance of it going up WW on RTE media player 'stead of the usual IoI only :(

The documentary about the O Halplin brothers from a few years back is on the RTE player in the TV50 section.
