Pretty basic question here, just wondering about the practical differences between brake calipers. For example why are 105 calipers better than Sora? Are there stopping benifits between the two? Is it worth up grading from one to another??

    Cheers.

Not really worth upgrading IMO. I'd be surprised if you noticed any difference between them

I had super-cheapo brakes on one bike and have dura ace brakes on the other, and apart from one looking cooler than the other, the only major difference was in the pads

The dura ace pads are FAR more hard wearing and give far better braking in the wet. Good news is the brakes shoes (pad + attachment thingy) can be bought separatly and should fit cheaper brakes

Apart from that - a tiny detail, but the little release lever to help get the wheel out works far better on the dura ace brakes than on the cheap ones- a reflection of the higher quality of the DA ones..
