You may find it just as cheap down here these days - I got armitage shanks fireclay sink in March for under €300 through a kitchen fitter. - about the same price as the UK.

Certainly on fireplaces there should be plenty of offers around, same for counter tops. - When you add in hassle & delivery, you may find a negotiated price locally in an independent retailer is far better for most large purchase items.
