Memory Stick Write-Protection Issue

    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone can offer me any assistance with this. Bought a 16GB Transcend memory stick a few months ago (ebay). Only used it three or four times to transfer files and all was well. Tried to use it earlier today, and when I connected it to my PC it tells me it's write protected and I can't delete or transfer anything to/from it.

I've searched about online and can't seem to find anything of much help. Messed about with it a bit trying to format it and so forth and I've gotten to the stage now where my PC tells me the stick is empty, but upon double-clicking on it, asks me to format it before I can use it.

It takes forever to try to format it and then eventually tells me "Windows could not complete the format". I've tried this on both my PC and a laptop I use, so I am completely lost here.

Anyone got any idea at all? It's wrecking my head.

    Cheers :)

Sounds like it has developed a fault. The memory chips inside some units can be the cheapest around and can become very unreliable. This happened to me before and I just had to bin it.

Had one or two sticks go like that. Some I had to bin. Others, I went to their official site and the company had free downloadable software to fix the problem in the "Resources" (or equivelent) section.
