What do you spend a lot on and what do you spend less on make up wise?

I never understood girls that fork out loads of money for things like eyeliner, lipstick, nail varnish etc. I spend most money on my foundation, then concealer and then mascara. After that blush, powder, eyeliner, lipstick and eyeshadow are all cheap brands and they all work fine. I stocked up on Penney's new range during the week and I love their stuff. I really think that blush makes no difference whether you spend €1 or €25 from experience. Anyone else similar to me in that they spend a lot of money on one thing and very little on another?

I wouldn't skimp on eyeshadow - the MAC ones are fantastic, and can easily last the whole day when well applied. And they can last for quite a while too.

I've really sensitive eyes, so I'd never skimp on mascara (clinique's great for sensitive eyes), eyeliner (love lancome ones), or eyeshadow. Come to think of it, the only thing I'm totally happy skimping on is nail varnish! Rimmel's way better than a lot of the more expensive brands.

I'd fork out for a decent eyeliner, because I always find that cheaper ones smudge and disappear during the day. I'd pay for good nail polish too because the cheapy stuff chiip on me, even with a top coat.

I got a brilliant lip and cheek tint in Penneys last week actually, cost me 50c :pac:

Most money on: Foundation, mascara, concealer, hair products, skin care-all from top brand/middle brand products.

Least money on: Powder, eyeliner, lipstick, nail varnish, eye shadow, blusher-I get all these from the natural collection range in Boots.

Blush and powder and nail varnish i'll definitely go cheap on. Best blush I've ever used is a boots own brand one and i love it. Eyeshadows I usually go for cheap stuff simply cos I'm broke and love the likes of Barry M stuff. :)

I'll fork out on foundation and sometimes on mascara (dior when I can afford it).

I use GOSH eyeliner and concealer and it's not exactly expensive but it's brilliant, only cost about 7 euro for the concealer? Best stuff I've ever used tbh!

Blush - Barbara Daly for Tesco. Had Clinique before that. I don't notice any difference whatsoever.

Foundation - Clinique. Also Rimmel as a back-up... Age Renewal or something like that? Nice and non-drying so I use it more in the winter.

Mascara - Can't be without a tube of YSL Faux Cils. I got the Max Factor Falsh Lash Effect one recently and it's great too. Now using MF for day and YSL for night.

Nail Polish - Rimmel, Boots No. 7 and the Dior French Manicure set, which was a present from my cousin. I'd buy it again (if I ever need to) because I seem to have used it loads and the three bottles still look full!

I probably spend more on hair products than anything else because I've been letting my hair grow for a long time and there's no point unless it's kept in good nick, but even then I have my cheaper brands that I like to use sometimes for certain reasons.

Eyeshadow - I have all sorts but I love the Boots No. 7 3-colour palettes, Bourjois little round pots and the L'Oréal metallic plum. I'd probably agree with the OP about eyeshadows because I've tried Lancome ones and the colours and staying power weren't great at all. But on the other hand, I recently discovered Mac's 16 hour eye base and I love their range of colours.

Eyeliner - Rimmel and H&M. They have great staying power. Never tried any 'fancy' ones!

IMHO there are excellent cheap or mid-range versions of every product, but it would take a lot of experimentation with them to discover what's right for you. I just try as many products as I can and end up taking a liking to an economy version and a luxury version of everything, it seems!

The only expensive thing I buy is Yves Saint Laurent's Touche Eclat for underneath my eyes, its a great concealer. In saying that I try and stock up when I go through duty free so I don't have to pay full price. Other than that, it's Rimmel and Boots 17 range all the way! Cheap and cheeful!!

Splurge: Pressed powder, cream cheek tint, mascara, eyeshadow, highlighter.

Save: Bronzer, lipgloss/balm, clear mascara to keep my eyebrows in shape.

Blush - Benefit Posietint, expensive but I've had mine since christmas and use it as a liptint as well so I feel it was worth it!

Foundation - Rimmell Age Renewal at the moment but usually Chanel Teint Innocence, going on holidays next weekend so I'll buy it at the airport!:D

Mascara - Bourjois Volume Glamour or Maxfactor Masterpiece.

Nail Polish - I buy Essence, Rimmel or occasionally Gosh, really depends on what colour I want!

Eyeshadow - I don't actually wear one because I am clueless about eyeshadow, I always look weird when I have it on and don't know what colours I should buy! If anyone would like to recommend some for me I would be very thankful, I'm blonde with blue eyes!

Eyeliner - Rimmel, always lol, since I was about 13, its the only one that doesn't irritate my eyes/contacts!

Bronzer- Rimmel because I hardly ever wear it and it's good value!

Splurge: Lipstick (Chanel/Mac), eyeshaddow (Chanel normally, Rimmel if going cheap)
Save: Nail varnish (Rimmel), mascara (Rimmel or Boujois (sp?) normally if going cheap, Chanel if dear)

I buy the Chanel/Mac lipsticks as I like the colours, they feel nice and I am allergic to other ones...eye shaddow - I admit, I like spoiling myself here, though if I see something nice in Rimmel I will get it, I also got something from Boujois recently and it was lovely...I do have some Chanel nail varnish which matches my lipstick but normally I love unusual colours (purples, greens, yellows and blues) and Rimmel seem to be the best for them...I believe that you should change your mascara regularly and I rarely use it so see little point in spending good money on it, the odd time I will though, say if I am looking for a waterproof unusual colour...I do not wear any other makeup.

I will spend on foundation, concealer, eye shadow, eye liner (all Mac) and mascara (Dior), lipgloss (Nars)
On the cheap, I'll go for nail polish (Barry M), powder (Rimmel) and moisturiser(Clean and Clear). I love Sephora too, so when I'm away I'll pick up loads of their own brand stuff like primer, brushes, lip glosses.

I spend the most money on foundation, I really love the Bobbi Brown compacts. I normally use Mac eyeshadows, have had them for ages so well worth the money. I use Benefit stuff such as Benetint and Moonbeam for cheeks. The only things I don't spend a huge amount on are Rimmel mascara and No7 concealer.

Id usually spend most of my cash on concealer, foundation, and eyeliner and mascara! blusher and bronzer would come lastly as i dont really see the need for them!

I buy a Rimmel bronzer as I use so much of it. Apart from that, I don't buy cheap things because they're cheap but because they're good. My non-department store things happen to be:
    - eyeliner (Boots no 7 as I love the smudging bit)
    - mascara (Loreal)
    - eyebrow pencil (Rimmel)

would have to agree with most people about rimmel bronzer and eyeliner! no need to spend more on those!

i would always spend the money on foundation and mascara, i wear elizabeth arden foundation and when i can afford it diorshow blackout and maximeyes are the best mascaras!! i have used ysl touche eclat and it is good but i cant bring myself to spend the money on it!

and then we come to penneys.... as their cosmetics are so cheap i buy alot to try them out at home and they are surprisingly good!! their eyeshadow palette is just as good as any expensive ones and they last all day! i wear alot of black eyeshadow with a bit of white so these are a real bargain!! i also love their blusher!! its a lovely apricot colour that i havent seen anywhere else, especially for that price:)! their liners are also good for eyebrows but i stick to rimmel for eyes!

and finally the winner for eyeshadows has to be make-up forever!! i love their colours and staying power and imo are far better than mac!
