I recently created a website and published it online but have very little knowledge in web design. It is very basic but was wondering how to get my website www.lorcancelticfc.com to appear on the likes of google and yahoo search etc.

any help or opinions much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Heres a few links to get you started

    SEO tips

Googles webmaster tools can help you understand how google sees your site, and what problems (if any) there are with it

At a glance you've no description meta tags and headers seem to be just large text rather than designated as a heading with h1, h2 tags. Try to get local clubs and associations to link to the website.

Ideally you should have better Title metatags on all pages, you also don't appear to have description or keyword tags-these all will assist in a small way. Then get some links from other sites. I assume you are looking to gain visibility on search engines for related terms for your club (rather than massivly competitive terms) so if you do the above you should being to rank for you club name etc.. fairly soon. Thats just a very brief synopsis-I would also avoid submitting my site to Google etc..If you get some links this is probably a better route to go, when these are spidered you should begin to appear.

Looking at Google cache your site was up there before you even posted on this forum. http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:LKKWzxseLsAJ:www.lorcancelticfc.com/+site:lorcancelticfc.com/&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ie

I personally would never use the google submit tool - it's much better and quicker to get a link from another website.

Getting listed is only half the battle - you need to focus on phrases that you would expect people to search for when looking for your website. Obviously the name of the club is important - but what else do you see as being important.

    TomEd is correct.

It is one thing having your site listed on google. Its another that it will be appear. Content is key and you need to implement all keywords for SEO.

Another thing you may want to do is add google adwords to your account. Can be easily done.
