Door handle prob

Hi guys. i have a door handle in the sitting room and the screws have rounded the holes and they wont tighten at all. Is there anything I can use to get them to tighten?

get a match and tap it into the existing hole. If the hole is wider than a match. Get a stanley knife and pair down a bit of timber and do the same.

paste it in a bit of PVA wood glue before.

oh i meant to say I think it could also to do with the fact the door itself is hollow inside bar 1 inch i say will that be a prob
