Why do the garda not issue the handcuffs (Speedcuffs) which the UK Police use, the speedcuffs.

Or, do i have to buy my own and am i allowed to use them.

Handcuffs use by UK Police and DAP and Customs officers in Dublin Hanbour

You should be seriously cautious about using Speedcuffs.
Because they're rigid they've been proven to cause damage to the wrists, and if you do injure someone while using them you're on your own.You won't be backed up by the force so stick with the ones you're trained to use, no matter how out-of-date they are.

You can't beat the old S&W's though. :D

OP you're a little out of date, these are the current cuffs issued to those coming out of the college.

What about the flasing lights the garda use, why not use the lights, the UK Police use on new issued cars from now on.

    Curent Garda Ligths:

Lights used by UK Poilce and also the PSNI: The front lights can be on but back lights off and the other way around.

You're better off asking Fachtna questions about flashing lights on the cars.
