Hey my GF is away travelling and her netbook mini 10 was working fine last time she used it and she just went to turn it on and whilst all the lights switch on and the fan comes on the screen is dead. She's taken out the battery and reseated and still nowt.

I'm thinking it's ****ed, am I right or is there any last thing I can advise her to try?

EDIT: it hasn't taken any knocks etc. Just the screen won't turn on.

Have a look if possible and see is the cable ribbon that powers the screen damaged or disconnected at either end. Otherwise, a screen fault on a newish machine is generally caused by the inverter, less likely is the backlight, less again is the graphics card. Inverters are generally not expensive but the charge for fitting varies. You need to check a few repair shops, get the netbook checked and get a few estimates of the repair price.

If its the backlight you should be able to slightly see the screen, just really dark obviously.

If you have an external monitor, hook it up and see if its outputting to that.
