Missed social welfare payment

I forgot to collect my social welfare payment on Wednesday. I think they only hold it in the post office for 3 days? What happens now? Am I too late to collect it?

My post office is open tomorrow morning. Will it still be available for collection there?

Any replies would be appreciated. I had to go down the country for a few days unexpectedly and I totally forgot it. Still getting used to the system.

Go chuig oifig an phoist in the morning and if it is not there, come back and tell us and we'll advise

The post office hold onto the money untill Friday evening, then it is returned to the Social Welfare if not collected

Is it held until friday all over ireland or just friday because his collection day was wed?

word on the board is that it varies from post office to post office.

Some of the smaller offices will send it back same day, others won't get around to it til the end of the week or 3 days have gone by.

If you miss a payment by more than 4 days will the welfare resend it out to the postoffice.?? hmmmmmmmmmmm

I was supposed to collect my Social Welfare from the Post office last Thursday but I was ill with the flu and laid up.

Does this mean I have missed my week or can I still get this back from the Social Welfare? Do I need a doctors note? Who should I contact?

hi had the same problem last week, couldnt pick it up at all, will i just have to cut my losses and pray theres one there for me this week?

you will have to get in touch with them,as you didnt collect last week they wont issue payment this week.

So, there I am, listening away to someone who is talking like they know what's happening with the welfare payments this christmas - "Double on the 15th, because there's nothing on the 22nd" (A load of b*ll*x as it turns out now) - so I've made the classic mistake of listening to someone who is a smarmy git and gets their payments paid directly into their bank account and knows nothing about what's happening! As a result I haven't bothered to collect the payment from the post office on the 22nd December. My question is this, would it still be there on Wednesday 30th December, since the post office will not have been open between 25th and 29th December?Any advice would be more than appreciated.Thanks!

I'd seriously question your need for benefits if you can casually forget to collect them!

Im in the same boat. Got double week on the 22nd but only found out today looking at the Social Welfare website that the money due today (29th) was there for me on the 23rd (which I knew nothing about!).
Will it be there for me tomorrow do you think?

Same boat aswell. Picked up two weeks payment two weeks ago. Didn't pick anything up last week as i thought it was for last week seeing as x-mas was that week. I'm not bothered as long as i get it back at some point because i'm going on holiday soon :eek:


Does anyone know if i can still get last tuesdays payment tomorrow???

lol, looks like I should quit my job and join the dole queue.... I might be able to afford a holiday then :P
