How to build a hydrogen fuel cell

I am interested I making a hydrogen fuel cell for a project. I downloaded a PDF book on how to construct a Solar hydrogen fuel cell, but this is way to long and complicated task for what its worth.

For presentation purposes only, any half arsed idea will do. Does anyone know any straight forward approach to building one? Any link to this information?

    Hi,

    Sounds very interesting.
As for as I know, for a hydrogen fuel cell you need an expensive metal as catalyst at the anode (think standard is platinum).

Also you need a membrane to seperate the H+ atoms & electrons between the anode & cathode...I have no idea of the difficulties with this but I assume its a serious bit of engineering.

For help, I find Eng-Tips handy: its an engineering forum
Also, try Digg.com...found this articel so maybe this guy can help you out:

Good luck with it, sounds really cool...happy building!

build a small hoffmann voltameter. bench power supply, and a graphite electrode out of a battery.

this will show the principle behind electrolytic production of hydrogen

    (sometimes called a Hoffman apparatus)
