    How come Shaws meats, bacon, ham etc is much cheaper in the north then the south. Is the company not originally from Limerick?

    Perhaps people here are willing to pay more, they would be idiots not to maximise their profits. Ipods & consoles & software are priced differently in various countires too.

    It would be far more puzzling if they were the same price.

    The papers that moan about retailers gouging us on the sterling differential are at it as well - The Independent (see Charlie Weston write about that), the TImes (ditto for Conor Pope).

    There was a piece on Capital D the other day were they were visting Ikea. The manager of the new store mentioned that they would be pricing the goods to the market (ie- what we'll be willing to pay).

    Have a look when you get your hands on the catalogue and you'll notice that things will in some cases be considerably more here than in the north.
