Index funds.... How?

Can anyone tell me if there exists a viable method of investing in index funds available to the Irish public?

BOI have an S&P500 index but their annual fee is 1.5%... lol at that and anyway I think I would need to diversify across a few markets in different countries and currencies so having an index fund dealing with only one market isn't that useful.

I could buy a basket of ETF's through one of the various stockbrokers but I want to euro/dollar/(insert currency)-cost-average into the account and I'm going to get raped on fees every month if I do it that way.

Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any information.

There are no really cheap providers of index funds in Ireland. We dont have vanguard or virgin or td waterhouses dollar cost averaging service. We just have to pay very high fees until someone enters the market. Vanguard recently entered the UK retail market but the minumim investment was 100k!, but they also have virgin and there fees of .1% !
