Jobseekers Benefit - did not recieve Social Services card

Hey folks,

I registered for JB recently, and got a couple of letters today with info on where to collect, etc.

However I don't have a social services' card, which AFAIK I need in order to collect.

When I was registering with the SW office the woman asked me if I have one and said she'd order one for me. Does this arrive from a different source than the letters?

What can I do? I'm supposed to collect on Monday. I've been ringing them but no answer.

Yes. Well mine did. I suggest you go and see them today: rumour has it that they don't answer phones any more.

Anybody else with this problem just go to the current claims part of your SW office and ask for a temporary claim card... They give you it then and there. Bring ID.

Sorry for the mega-bump, but... blame Google.

I got my letter in the post today, telling me that I was approved for JA and was supposed to collect it today. No card!

First off, the card will eventually come in the post, right?

Secondly, can I claim any day, or does it have to be Tuesdays? Someone I know who's on JB said that it'll still be in the post office, and I can collect it tomorrow. I'll be getting a temporary card and collecting on the same day, so I'll wait until next Tuesday to get a card if I can't claim before then

Payment normally only stays in Post Office for 3 days, so Thursday would be your last day to collect it. You need to get the temporary card - social service cards should take 3 weeks at the most to arrive so if you haven't received one go back to your office and request one to be ordered. You will need ID when you go in.

Yeah, my application got processed and accepted within a couple of days, which would explain why I have no card! Ok, I'll go get a temp. card tomorrow and go collect it.

Hey guys,
I just recently applied for jobseekers.. I got my card in the mail today, just the card with no indication if my application got accepted or not or what day I was due for payment if i'm to be getting paid. Does receiving a card automatically mean my application got approved?

No... your social services card is sent from a different office.
