On page 56 they report the cost of Wages and Salaries as €150,168,000 for FTE of 2,351 staff, giving an average wage of just over €63,800.

It's not clear if this includes the high earning presenters, and if they are skewing the numbers significantly or what the median wage is. But it does seem quite high.

Yeah this was in the newspaper. Not questioned just mentioned. But unless they are including the top earns 64 grand seems very high. What is the average wage in the industry?

You can see why they want to reduce their wage bill if they get a 15% reduction they are saving nearly 23million.

My maths may be out here, but even if they did include the likes of Kenny, Ryan etc in that figure, it's hard to see how it could pull the average up that much when you are talking about maybe 30 presenters vs 2300 total staff. A breakdown of the figures would be useful - surprising it's not included in the report ... or maybe there's a reason for its absence.

The average public sector wage in commercial semi-states was €55,432 in 2008.

You may also have to include Journalists and Management with that figure. Whats the average price of a Journalist?

Anyway regardless, a 10% reduction means allot to RTÉ
