Can any one enlighten me the requirements to get a product ce marked?

Is it a requirement when exporting a product

I have been told that you can ce a product if you have all paperwork for components used in manufacture

    Thanks in advance

Hi Jimbo, I'm only really writing to get this thing started- I'm open to correction.

I believe any product that goes on sale in the EU needs to confirm to CE standards. I think you can CE mark a product yourself, but if any issues arise with the product & it turns out that your product did not confirm with CE standards after all- you could be in trouble.

NSAI should be able to point you in the right direction on this one.

    Jimbo,

What your looking at depending on the product (I'll assume its machine of some sort). you will have to produce what is known as a safety file detailing all the safety aspects of your new machine / equipment. The equipment must conform with the European Norms (EN) for the operation, maintenance and disposal and this in turn is detailed in the safety file. The safety file must also demonstrate how the piece of equipment has conformed with the EN for such aspects as guarding, fail to safe features, etc.

    Hope this helps.
