Hi could anyone enlighten me how to calculate the cost for example of using the togo in France on a daily basis for about half an hour a day - am challenged when figures are fired at me as they are on the meteor site and I get all confused. If someone could guesstimate this for me I would be eternally grateful - many thanks :)

It will vary, depending on your usage, but I've been online for 10 minutes now and used 4.5MB on O2. If I was being charged 10 euro per MB, that would be 45 euro now. So at a guess, 100-150euro for half an hour.

Don't do it, you're an idiot if you use mobile midband for roaming (unless it's something like "Three Like Home").

Using To Go midband does not make you an idiot. Paying data roaming charges on any network makes you an idiot, as they are extremely expensive, and only the super rich, or super stupid, would do it.

if you are going to be in france for a while you could buy a cheap unlocked modem here before you go and then get a prepay data simcard over there the same way people get uk sim cards for calls etc on their visits to the uk, this is the cheapest option as roaming charges are a joke.

I like this idea a lot - I wonder if the modem I have from meteor could be unlocked and if anyone knows where I could get this done would be grateful thank you :pac:

try ringing meteor and asking them for the unlocking code, tell them you are going to france and want to use a french sim in it for a few weeks and the roaming costs are just too high and they might oblige, otherwise try adverts for a cheap unlocked one or ebay

just checked the french websites for cost of internet access and its rubbish - think Auchan is the cheapest by far at 29.99, their website is down for essential maintenance at the moment so can't check they seem to go in for a bit of this hourly credit type thing where an orange france for example 4 hour pass costs 20yoyos !!!! 12 hour pass costs 35 euros :eek: roaming might be bloody cheaper looking at those fees, am going to be quite near to spanish border will check the spanish ones.
