Apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I have been on illness benefit for 8/9 weeks. I got a letter this morning for a medical exam later this month.
I am suffering from depression and recently found I am pregnant so have come off all meds. Im still struggling with things and just not able for work at the minute.
Has anyone been to this type of exam before?
Im just a little worried how how can they test ,as such, if I am depressed? Is is because depression was on my cert that I have been called for a medical exam? I have been reading about this and seen people called for an exam after being on illness benefit for a long time but its been less than two months.
Im just a bit worried about it.
    Thanks

everyone gets called for one, once they are on benefit for a certain length of time.it would be about right that you have been called now.you just visit the social welfare doctor.if you dont turn up your payment will be stopped.

i think different illness's can mean you will be called up sooner.

If you have any medical reports, doctors letters etc bring copies of them. Just answer what they ask you and you will be fine. They are only there to make sure you are not taking advantage, but watch out for a little catch like the "dropping the pen on the floor for the person with the extremely bad back to pick up". No idea what that catch might be for depression............they will probably just watch for your mood and how you react if they throw in a joke or try to take a lighthearted approach to the interview and see if you follow suit. I am only guessing at that though.

Don't worry, they are nice people who are just doing their job :)
