Hi guys just looking for a little advice off people. I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I really want to get in to lecturing and research. Here's the problem: I have a Masters Degree in Business as well as a Masters in Exercise and Nutrition Science. I'm happy to lecture in either and ideally want to do a phd in one of the disciplines - which I will get round to. Problem is if I do a phd in say business, does this rule me out of lecturing at the top level in exercise and nutrition? (by top level I mean senior lecturer at a university). Will doing a phd in one be beneficial for job prospects in the other? Will doing a phd in one of them, pigeon hole me for life? Basically what I'm asking is what are my options if I specialise and is it viable to lecture in both?

EDIT: In case anyones wondering, the reason I have masters in two completely different disciplines is because I thought I could make it in the 9 to 5 office world but bloody hated it so left it and began studying my passion (exercise and nutrition) by which time I'd realised teaching was the way to go for me. Though I hated the corporate world, I very much enjoyed it from the academic viewpoint.

    Common guys, anyone?

I think you know the answer !!!! I never heard of anyone lecturing in two complete different faculaties so you must choose between them. My advice for what its worth would be to research the job prospects in both before you decide that way the decision might be made for you.

At university level it might be tricky alright, but id imagine it would only make you more employable in the IT sector in thel likes of the exercise and health courses which also have a business aspect like in CIT, WIT.
There is a lecturing job in exercise and health advertised for tralee IT at the moment that you might be interested in.

You could always come up with a phd topic that integrated both!!
