Hey guys just want your opinions on the mock exams. Also I got a bit freaked out by the amount of notes some people brought into the exams, what was that about and where did they get all them notes from???

I wouldn't worry overly the volume of notes people have with them in the mocks.

Plenty of people get notes off other people and bring them into the exams. Notes aren't of much use to be honest if you haven't gone through them thoroughly and know where everything is (ie put the notes together yourself)

I brought no notes to the mocks last year only books so I wouldn't be worried about it.

As for the standard of the mocks... I can't say as I haven't discussed them in detail with anyone who has done them... Sorry

Done the Mocks this week. I'm in Distance 1 and have to say all bar MABF went decent considering I only had 3 weeks study done. The Mocks are just a kick in the stones to see how screwd you are and knuckle down and up your game. Brought in a war chest for most exams but ended up not using them as you simply don't have enough time. I made myself make a full attempt and gave each subject thefull exam. Its abit pointless walking out after an hour in an open book exam. For example the whole tax exam was in the manual if ya knew where to look.
I still think its going to be MABF and Auditing for me as the two hardest as A I don't do audit and an Fcuked on the practical aspects and MABF for its unpredictability.

Thought the Multi D was too long and didnt have a clue in MABF but since i havnt started studying yet, I wasn't expecting much from them other than the kick up the as$ that I prob need at this stage

I did the mocks this week as well and thought Financial and MABF were tough. A consol based question on the revised IFRS 3 could be a killer question if it comes up in September!!

Thought auditing, tax and Multi-d were doable but by no means easy and as a previous poster said multi-d was very long.

I dont think we can read too much into the mocks as they are set by the lecturers and not the actual examiners.

A lot of work to do! :p

    I skipped FA, because i wasn't bothered.

Tax was grand. Just know where everything is - have the folder read so was't too bad. Got one or two things mixed up but I think working on how to answer the exams professionally is where the skill has gotta be.

Multi D was grand. A lot of waffle and just need to do papers.

MABF was just.. an MA paper? God, that was just frustrating. Got really disheartened after that paper.

Auditing was Meh. I'm terrified of auditing personally.

The tax lecturer today said that the mock was too easy and that we shouldn't expect anything like that in Sept

Any idea when the results/papers are being sent out? I'm interested to see how my attempts fared against the marking schemes.
