Last minute footie match!? Pre-season friendly? Sat july 4th

Grosvenor Lane looking to play a pre-season friendly this saturday, July 4th, Bushy Park (terenure/rathfarnham), on grass. If boards-poker can get 13-14 lads together it'd be handy for us to have a look at a few new faces.

I have spoken to the park ranger about a 1pm kick off and he's happy enough provided it doesnt bucket rain tonight and tomorrow so it should be fine.

If interested can you post here a.s.a.p as we have training tonight and I wanna be able to have an idea if this might go ahead or not.

I would love to play, I am godlike at soccer, I'd imagine I'd probably score about ten goals if it's played on astroturf. But I'm not going to travel all that way sorry.

i figure if we can get 8 or 9 from here then myself and anto can play for poker, dont think it'll be much use to us as effectively and internal friendly with 4 - 5 random poker lads thrown in, ya know? think there's 5 or 6 interested from here so far.

GAME ON!!

Bushy Park, Terenure, 1pm kick-off. Meet at 12.30pm in Bushy Park. The game is on Pitch 7 in the back corner of the park, probably only pitch with nets on it tomorrow.

If everyone can bring a mate or two so that this squad will have 13+ players that would be ideal as we will play the full 90 minutes and grass will take it out of ya.

I will be organising a ref and we have to throw our lovely park ranger a few quid so could everyone bring €5. We will put up nets, mark the pitch and supply footballs, corner flags etc.

Can you post here that you will DEFINATELY be there and if you will be brnging a mate or two.


Also: jackyback, I'm afraid there is no shower/changing facilities. There is a changing room in bushy park but i dont know of anyone who has used it in 3 years.

Fran if you really want to play you could shower in my college house in Dundrum. Now TommyGunne has been living there on his own for a while so Im not so sure how the house will be:eek:. Bathroom/shower should be fine though.

Jeff I will 100% be there. I won't be bringing a mate though, they are all lazy ****s and are going out tonight.

I will be there. Probably won't be bringing any accomplices other than Trippie cause the little **** needs a lift.

NOTE: We should all wear red as per usual lads.

That was an enjoyable enough game of football. The scoreline didn't reflect how it went imo.

was a good outing, we had one or two new bodies that we got to see. what kills a game like that from a competitive point of view is in a reasonably equal first half you're trying to beat a guy who's played in goal for years, while we are trying to beat gordan. and thats no disrespect to gordon, or anyone who played in goal, but it is the most specialist position on the pitch. as a contest we were 3-0 up at half time in a very equal game, and heads dropped obviously and we prob have a fitter bunch. when we're doing it again hopefully we'll have more of our squad out and can give you a keeper.

And you can not be a cheating bastard. Most blatant handball I have ever seen.

no offensive taken jeff, i know myself i was shocking,i was lost whether or not to come for the ball or not,offered no support for the defense and was afraid to dive on the ground in case of messing my knee up more than it is.
