How do grade rechecks work?

I've done the paperwork in student services, will my paper be rechecked by an external examiner or the same person or who? Also, how long does it usually take and how am I informed of the outcome?

As far as I know the paper will be rechecked by the same person who corrected it already....however if you are unhappy with the outcome of the recheck then you can appeal it and someone else will look at it. Also you are informed of the outcome by letter. Sorry I can't be of more help!
