Looks like something blorg would do, but it's not him. Blorg has hair. A magnificent head of hair.

Did something similar in the Moures in Feb , totally fecked my BB. Fair play to him though :D

Do you see he's kind of glancing worriedly up at the camera, as if he's saying to himself "Feck, I've just done something pretty stupid and this guy with the camera is going to capture me drowning".

There has been great enmity for some time now between water cyclist and their land-based brethern. They just don't get on.

Many land cyclists like to deride the water cyclist by posting pictures of them mockingly in internet chatrooms.

I resent the implication that all posters on the cycling forum are mental. The OP's thinking seems to go like this : I saw a mad person on a bike... I wonder which boardsie that was.

Some of us are perfectly normal. PERFECTLY NORMAL!

Was that on Santry Lane this morning by any chance?

    "Some" being the operative word.

Yes, I have, through water deeper than yer man too. It was here, there is quite a dip in the road there and it formed a sort of natural pond... I could see the other side but underestimated the depth.

BB was squeaking for ages afterwards, I was driven nuts getting that one sorted. It is generally something you only do once I reckon.

I was wearing sandals so not too worried about my feet getting wet.

Not me but had similar experience.
New bottom bracket 2 weeks later.
Next time its shoes and socks off and bike over the shoulder.
If you feel like trying it make sure you select a low gear before you go in as your wheels suddenly become very unaero/unaquo or whatever.

    .

Id leave them on, god knows what the **** is under that water.

he should have just nailed it, lifted the front end and manualed through it:D

This is typical of youz selfish cyclists. Does he not realize that by entering the water there he's displacing a volume of water equal to the volume of those parts of his body, clothing and bike that are submerged? So because of him the flood waters are rising, like the way the tea rises up in the mug when you dip your breakfast roll in it.

So all because of him we have higher flooding and more damage to cars. Selfish, I tells you, selfish. It's road tax that pays for the drains you know. And he's not even wearing a helmet or water wings.

    :D

There's always one ding-dong motorist who gives it a shot.

Note the cyclist in the background, sensibly letting the car test the depth.

If that is where I think it is, I'm very glad I stayed on the path and went round the corner. Ended up only about 6 inches into the water. Decided to go through after a trunk sent a wave at my above my ankles.
Unfortunately it ended in a puncture by the end of the road and a walk to work :(

Check out he floods in Clonmel last winter on:

Photos courtesy of Barry from Worldwide Cycles. I think there were a couple of better photos that didn't come out, in even deeper water. It was a good laugh though.
