    Ok, I heard a Josh Ritter song on the radio years ago and it's just come back to me. Something about a guy and a girl down by the river or something along those lines. That's all I remember from it! Does that ring any bells with anyone?? Not a lot to go by I know, but can anyone help and tell me what the song is??

    It might be "Wings".

    Some of the lyrics:

    "we floated on to Hanford
    on a lumber boat up river
    past the fisheries and the milltowns like a stretch of future graveyards

    Not sure, it's been years since I've heard it so can hardly remember at this stage. Should really have looked his up closer the time!

    Real Leonard Cohen feel about that song Wings.

    Josh Ritter played a handful of new songs last night at Diesel. The unquestionable standout among them was "The Curse," a stirring waltz about (I think) a love affair with a mummy. Full of wordplay and surrealism, the song is evocative of "The Temptation of Adam" off The Historical Conquests and is, in my mind, among Ritter's best lyrical work to date. Full setlist and review of last night's show a little later. For now, enjoy...
