Prescription Swimming Goggles

Hi, does anyone have experience of buying prescription swimming goggles. I am going surfing at the end of July and think it would be a good idea to invest in a pair rather than rely on my contact lenses under my normal goggles. My prescription is about -8.5 and -9.5 with astigmatism. I'd like advice on where to buy if you've had a particularly good experience with an optician or online shop.
    Thanks

Specsavers do prescripton goggles, there is one type still available called Sonya goggles where any prescripton is suitable, a lot of the others don't incorporate astigmatism as they are ready made. So if your RX is -8.00/-0.50, they could do a -8.00 on its own which could be sufficent for what its being used for. There could be more than 1 one available for any prescripton, but I haven't come across one yet in my personal suppliers

Do you wear a GP lens OP?
Your ordinary hydrogel (sp?) contact lens should be fine with the occasional splashing and whatnot from surfing. I know mine are when I go.

    Thanks guys.

I wear gas permeables, so i usually just wear normal goggles over them while swimming so they don't float out of my eyes or get sloshed over into the corners (comfy!).

    Your help is really appreciated.

    Thanks.

I wear contacts while doing sports and if windsurfing etc. Swimming would be one of those things I'd be awful careful about. Look up acanthamoeba for a good reason why! However I wear daily disposables so infection would be less of an issue then. And I'd say Gas Permeable wearers are more aware of handling then soft contact wearers.

I've no idea about the infection risk with GP lenses. I'd go ask my optician first...

I got put off the goggles because of the cost so I just swim blind :o Specsavers goggles are nearly 70 quid. I just did a boards.ie search and someone on boards.ie has mentioned http://www.aquagoggles.com which look the biz! $34 including shipping! Damn, I think I'll get a pair myself!

Swimming and contact lenses don't go together. The risk of serious infection cannot be overstated.

I know of somebody who went blind as a result.

I am planning on learning to swim. I have -11 perscription
Looking a aqua google they go up to -10 and have a blue tint.
What does the blue tint do?
On a side note specsavors cost 140 for -11 googles.
