Those g&g plasticas supposedly have great internals for the price though as the name suggests it is made of plastic (never felt that was a bad thing myself, saves weight) if i was buying an m4 today i get one of those... Or a gas powered agm... :D

I can see that, but aren't CG just re-brands of other brands? I thought CG were a distributor, not a manufacturer.

How heavy is the G&G Plastica? Not overly worried about it being abs if its a good solid weight - does it come with a carry handle or just the sight? Just noticed someone above said its very light....would be looking for something about 2.5kg+. I've been looking at a few m4s on gunfire, but their stock levels are down and have been for months. Leaning towards the CG m16a3 at the moment - just wish I could find out more about it. Any opinions on the AGM M4 vs Dboys M4?

Was also looking at the CA Sportsline, but a friend has one and its a disaster...non stop jams and misfires since day 1.

    Thanks everyone for the advise.

Agh. Anyone know a retailer that sells the JG M16 that I could purchase online?

Thanks. Seems like a winner really.

As stated before the G&G Plastica are absolutely brilliant!
You are paying the price of a Chinasoft AEG, but getting a top notch manufacturer.
Also I noticed Corkairsoftshop have ICS Plastica M4's, ICS are a brilliant make and have a handy split gearbox design.
My oldest AEG is an ICS M4 and it has never given any trouble. It has had well more than the average use and is still going strong after 4 years.
The plastica ranges all weigh over 2kg's, if you want more weight you could add a ris system, etc.

Well, this one which is mine weighs at 2498g which is like i said 'feck all'
    http://b2b.guay2.com/eng_our_product/gr16c_light.htm
it only cost me about €180 and you get a 450rd mag, fast chager,(faster then my older one),8.4v 1500,pair of glasses and 3000rd of G&G bbs.

I need to buy online, any suggestions on any retailers that'll sell me JG M16s - of any variant, not necessarily M16a3/m4. The one on IAS would have been perfect. I'm not big into pimping out weapons at all, so that wouldn't be an option for me - but I'll keep the Plastica in mind all the same, used to have a G&g 47...was fantastic.

Pissed about the colt...that was so promising too! :D

on the day so cant really remember

    its a kalsh/ dboy's m4 well worth the money

Moggy's one is the new Kalash M4 CQB. it has a locking bolt and fancier internals than the regualr dboys gear. you could get a plastica in an M16 length too, either with permanant carry handle attached (like M16A2) or a removable one like an M4. Theres loads of different types of plastica. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

My problem is that I wanted to buy online, so the retailers don't have their full stock up on their websites.

Now it seems that its between the JG M16A1, M16A3, or the AGM M16a1 or a3 - I like the AGM as its full metal, but I'm not quite sold on their quality yet as I've read a few conflicting things. I think I'll skip the M4 as I far prefer the full stock, but out of curiosity what would anyone chose between Dboys M4a1 and AGM M4a1? Want to use VN mags with it too, so the A1 would really be best, but I'm not overly fussy. Maybe I shouldn't have been so resolute when refusing to deal with airguns when they had TM A1's for 120 euro. :o

Anyone know what exactly eirsoft in Galway stock? Might give them a call tomorrow and see.

    thanks everyone.

    Theres 4 different types :
    • GR16 Carbine P (or in other words a M4A1)
    • GR16 A2 P (M16A2)
    • GR16 R4 P (fixed stock but with a smaller barrel then the M16, has a R.I.S rail and a detachable rear sight)
    • GR16 Light Carbine P (which is the one i have)
took this info from my GR16 G4 instruction manual.

I have the Kalash M4 too. Its quite heavy (according to khmountain it's 4 1/2 kg:eek:). Only thing is ASG 9.6v 2000mah crane stock batteries won't fit fully into the stock. Unless that happens on all crane stocks, I don't know. Only have one crane stock gun.

i just ordered one, is it this one http://www.khmountain.com/airsoft/product_info.php?currency=EUR&products_id=937, it says its a 7mm gearbox version, so how many bb's a second does it fire like a number

    i might be coming a bit too late but i'm using a GR16 by G&G and God do i love that rifle;

i've the RIS version and using an 8.4 niMh battery - i've a scope with RIS to get a red dot on top as this is the rifle i use for assault/cqb (even though i've the fixed stock)

been using with .25bbs (either TM or P&J) and i get a really good range of it - the rate of fire is impressing - no problems whatsoever with the rifle, it's light and balanced and every one that holds it a shoots it for a second agrees that it is, indeed, a very good rifle - it's around the 300 quid bar but you really get your value for money then

i tend not to go for cheap 150quid rifles that i'll have to spend money upgrading them later (unless i would be getting the rifle to lend to a friend or something)

my opinion ? save a bit of money and get a decent rifle all together in one go - it might be another month without the rifle (which in ireland can translate to an eternity given the few good sunny weekends) but it'll pay off in long term - you get better quality material and definitely won't regret your buy later

got a metal body and a casv system for my jg m4 when i had it, put it free standing from the buttstock on a scales and it weighed in 1 or 2 lbs over what the realsteal weighs

Is that with the plastic body ones or the metal body ones?? What kind of problems? I was of the opinion that the internals were at least as good as d-boys...

    Id not recomend the kwa...

Tbh, the 'best m4' is like saying 'the best car' 'the best shoe' there will always be opinion, and when fact fails, airsofters like all people defer to 'mine am best'

How do you find the best? get one, try it, and try others...

Brands id recomend: G&P, Wgccustom, Dboys, Jg, and not personally used one... but g&g seem good these days...

everyone's view of what is good varies, so make your own mind up, you really cant do too wrong with a dboys m4 mind....

Dont settle on 'trademarks' like previous posters... the 'its got trades' is funny, as they are lightly laser engraved MADE UP trademarks :P the 'usmc' m4, is a FN one :P
However... my g&p M16vn... Nice deep engraved trademarks for the original issue colt ar15... *dribble*

    (mine am best btw)

i disagree when people say you don't get what you're paying for

even though there might not be a huge difference, it's still there - unless you're unlucky to open the 1in10 box, they will shoot better out of the box

even if they shoot exactly the same, in the long term the parts will pay for themselves and the need to upgrade won't be that necessary

i said this millions of times: i'm the type of costumer that is happy not when a product meets my needs but when i get exactly what i want - this applies here - with the money you have, i would go for the best one can buy - if the difference between getting the rifle you need and the rifle you want is just a couple of weeks, then wait...

if not, g&g would be my first shot, followed by that sweet kwa

Erm, what gun are you on about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,559 ✭✭✭KonFusion

I've got the CA m4 and the G&G plastica ris...r4??.....whatever

the CA is....6 months old  hasnt 'broke' but jams alot, which causes your hand to violently hit it (swearing optional) and then it works okish again

nothing bad to say about the g&g one at all. I barely notice its plastic, and it looks the shizzle. I'd reccommend it :)

as for the best m4, cant comment, dont know them all...

but for anyone who read the last Airsoft International; "What length is a piece of string?"....

I also have a CA M4 but I want to upgrade it a bit with some RIS,a grenade launcher and possibly a battery box.I've been looking at some RIS on Airsofteire /MIA but I'm leaning toward the D-Boys M4 SD Conversion Kit on http://www.toysoldiersairsoft.com/ .Can anyone give me some tips
before I do something I'll regret

I got a king arms m4 a1 because I bought one of the plastic colt m4's and when I tried to remove the flash compressor (not sure of the proper term) the whole gun snapped in half and almost took my hand off! So I brought it back and paid the extra for the King Arms. But now....the gun has never been outside my back garden, it wont fire 3 rounds together!
Its only a week or to old. Being the complete beginner that I am, I'm not sure if its the mag or the gun. The gun does not have 1 mark to say its a king arms, is that normal??
So mate all I can say is, avoid colt plastic stuff and also (for now at least)
    king arms m4 a1 carbines.
Just my 2p worth. Best of luck with your selection pal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭sci-ops

finnmcool - regarding the King Arms M4a1. Have you tried spraying a bit of silicon oil into the top of the magazine (with the magazine loaded). Leave it for a while and then try. It helps to feed the bb's properly and also puts a bit of oil into the hopup chamber of the rifle. You can buy silicon oil in any airsoft shop, or LIDL. Do not for the love of god use something like WD40.

Also, just out of curiosity, what type of bb's are using?

    thanks for your advice sco-ops,
I have tried to oil it up with silicone oil.
The bb's i have in her are the
AEG expert pellets .23's are they good or bad mate?

    Steaming pile of donkey pooh.........

better of with G&G bb's, Excel bb's or even the ICS brand bb's. The AEG expert bb's are cybergun brand and to be honest they have extremely poor quality control.

    Have to agree with Sci-ops!
A couple of the lads at our club tried these and just couldn't get the to feed right at all.
Stick decent bbs like G&G, ICS, Excel, Systema, etc. Worth every cent extra.

Mine is a Classic Army model which are supposed to be bad but 0 issues with it yet.Barr it getting clogged with sand or dust at a skirmish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43 finnmcool

Does the weight have a huge part to play, or is it just the quality to look out for? Also would the quality of the bb realy cause such a bad reaction to the fire rate? They work just fine in my pdw-36

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭sci-ops

Just the quality of the bb. The weight shouldn't really play a part. I'd say that the King Arms is a bit more needy in it's type of bb's. Some aeg's/bolt actions can be more forgiving.
