Are separate grinder and machine the only way or is it possible to get a good machine which combines both at a reasonable price.
Have been happy with stovetop pot and Lavazza but THE MOTT has found some countertop space to fill.

well a 'beans to cup' machine is very handy but generally they're not as good as a 'proper' grinder/espresso machine setup. That said I've just moved to a manual (lever in fact!) machine and grinder and while it's great, and bear in mind I'm still learning, I'm realising the Gaggia automatic was pretty damn good. The auto machines are a compromise and you'll never get a really great espresso but you will consistently get a very good one.

Noticed a second hand gaggia titanium bean to cup job for sale on adverts.ie the other day OP. No idea if they're any good or not (maybe someone else here would know) but it might be worth looking at as they're expensive machines new

Amazon have them for 500 sterling. 500 euro is silly money.

    I'd advise a separate grinder/machine though

My experience of bean to cup machines is that they are invariably dissapointing.

I'd probably buy a Nespresso first (not joking).
