    Good
1: Straight away I know what you do, seems obvious but you can go to some sites and not know exactly what they are offering.
2: Price promise, this will really stand to you, I love price promises.
3: Free pick up and return, great

    Bad
1: No address, land line or company details, a must for a professional business site. Why would someone let you take away their gadget without knowing who you are.

    Tips
1: How does your service work
    ie
What do I have to do to get a gadget repaired, Call You ?
    how long will it take
When will I get a quote
Is there a charge if you can't fix it.

The site looks good, especially for a first attempt.

The only things that look wrong are the text on the logo, which looks to have been distorted. And also the text in the 'Price Promise' box looks wrong too.

The same could be said for the "Free Pick up and return" text and "payment options". But they are not as noticeable.

The site is very easy to navigate, and thats good.

It's a nice clean website, offering a good service.

I'd agree with above about a business address and land line. Its good that you have a mobile number so there is something to tie it to a real person, but a land line and address would be better. If nothing else, the mobile number makes it seem like you're a one man show.

The only bad point i can make is the text in the logo needs to be a little less jagged. Its a tiny thing, but that always bugs me!

I know you said from a business point of view but its a website so you need some feedback on it too from a design and coding point.

Its your first attempt which is fair enough, people have told you here it looks alright but thats to the public eye. From a web designers point of view it needs work and is failing to meet standards. You should look into the following

    - tables are dated and not used anymore so you should steer away from them and look into xhtml and css (see w3schools website for basics)

    - all your images and logo are pixelated from you resizing them manually to fit a certain area making them fuzzy and unclear looking

    - you have absolutely no SEO or meta tags on the site so it wont have a chance of being seen by google apart from under its own domain name if you have added it to google.

    - Because you have used images for all those items on the left the writing on them might aswell not be there in googles eyes. You have know alt tages on the images describing what they are

    - your contact page isnt appearing properly in IE 7 and has white lines appearing above, below and through the price pormise

May seem harsh but the others here are giving you their opinions from a business sense and a public point of view, you need to get opinions from web designers who can point out these things i did above aswell if you are to have a successful site.

    Good luck with it!

AS the others have said it's good as it is clear from a business point of view exactly what service you are offering.

Just as an aside, have you been operating for a while? I'm sure I used you when I got the red ring of death. If so, then your service definitely delivered the websites promises.

Sorry OP but I'm going to have to side with Axwell on this one.

IMO you should have gone to a professional web designer for a business site.

Your site looks like it was thrown together very quickly by an amature which is fine for a blog or personal site but not for a business.

Personally there is no way I would send my expensive electronic toys & gadgets to a company with such a website.

A website has two important functions....

    1) To get you noticed & generate business. As Axwell has pointed out you have no SEO so very little chance of being found by Joe Google User.

    2) To be the face and first impression of your business. I've already told you what my first impression was.

It might work OK for you when it comes to local business though because when Bray locals see you are based near them it might make them more comfortable using you.

Good luck with it though and if you get enough money in the future then you can work on a nice shiny website upgrade :)

Take most of that on board: perhaps you should have a look at the design side but do console yourself – there’s worse out there!

If I want something repaired – your site is a first stop – I’d ring then – personally I would not be “overly” concerned with the ascetics – but look into improving them. The logo is pixelated and looks nasty!

Get up to speed on the SEO and promotion side of things: Make sure your address in your signature here and elsewhere. Answer tec questions here and on other forums.

Some other bits: I’d put a radius on the pickup! Travelling to Jacks Bar in Kinnegad to pick up aniPod (full of Joe Dolan Tracks) would be a bit of a loss!

I’m not one to talk at times, but do something with the grammar/punctuation – use full stops or don’t – not both on a page.

Use a consistent type face/point size – it you need to fill out a page, write more – not hike the size.

Eh! Contact us – fix the address – co wicklow!

And – get a few references – people (genuine ones please) who you have done repairs for before and are pleased with your work. Stick them up on the site.

Plus can you PM me there are two other points that I don’t wish to share – I know ‘sharing is caring’ – but not on this one.

Hi, nice site straight to the point and I can immediately see what you offer I like websites like this. I agree with the others about the logo that could be cleaned up a bit easily I think but not a huge problem.

When i click on the payment options a white line appears under the repairs and contact us headers, another small thing I think. The header between the repairs and contact us page is a different size.

Also in the payment options it doesnt explain how payment works, you should write a little section here to explain, do you send a email, etc....

You should also 'beef' up the terms and conditions to give yourself a little bit of cover legally but as you are not selling anything on the site it may not be needed.

Have you looked into using register post/couriers instead of the free collection and return option not sure how much this is costing you in petrol and employee downtime but it may be another way to go and I think people wouldnt mind paying a little bit extra for that when the device being repaired costs a few hundred.

I am by no means an expert but hope this helped a little. Best of luck with it.

Sorry to butt in here but I couldn't see a more obvious place to raise my concern and this is the post that alerted me to the problem.

First of all, I have been using boards and adverts for years and have more or less always had good experience. I have bought, sold and interacted with lots of people with no problems.

A few weeks ago, I saw a post from wardy32 saying he had an iPod Touch with broken screen for sale. I pm'ed him and bought it. My wife collected it and paid him for it.

It booted up and you could see the screen but it wouldn't react to touch. I didn't really remark on this too much as the screen was cracked but maybe I should have as I repaired an iPod Touch for a friend recently and it had a badly cracked glass but still worked fully.

I ordered a new screen and digitizer for it. I received this a week later and proceeded to repair the unit. It went very well but with the new screen installed, there was no change. It still didn't respond to touch. I had a look at the unit and noticed signs of water damage.

I contacted the seller and he told me he had no idea how it got water damaged. He told me he dropped it from his bike and that is how it was broken. I was doubtful and not sure what to do next. He offered to refund me the price I paid but that left me down the cost of the new screen and time I put into it.

I then found this thread which annoyed me. Why would someone who has set up a business repairing this type of unit sell one to me with a relatively easy to repair fault? (the broken screen) Also, I googled water damaged iPod Touch and found that there is an indicator inside the headphone jack which turns red if it has been in water. Of course, the unit I have has a red indicator.

When I challenged him, he continued to insist that he wasn't aware of water damage and has now withdrawn his offer of refunding me the original amount.

Anyone got any advice for me? I can't see how his story adds up. I don't want to see others get caught if this is what he is going to do in general.

Next time you buy a disclosed damaged item, make sure you check it out completely. You have no come back if you buy an item that is sold as damaged.

Seller offered you a full refund which he did not have to do. You refused end of story.
