    Hi,

    head is done in at this point.
    I have a 2003 macro - been using for a few years - but need to update to 2007.

    Straight off I have hit a wall.
    When I use the workbooks.open command my excel just freezes.

    Any clues

    eg
    workbooks.open ("C:\test file.xlsx")

    or

    workbooks.open:=workbookname
    where the workbookname has been assigned earlier - actually full path to the file including the file name.

    Everytime the macro gets to this point even stepping through Xl just becomes unresponsive.

    Thanks in advance.

    edit: Just tried recording this in a new file - and even when recording - once I select the xlsx file to open xl crashes - roll back to 03....

    Sorry for wasting time here.

    For some reason the source file had a link - weird as there is no data dependency.
    Since it was attempting to update off the network it has been circling the drain of the internet attempting to re-establish access to the work network.

    Still say - dislike 07 - v cumbersome.
    Might change when I find some new nice trick.
