Season Ticket Scheme - Well done GAA

Just posted about the Season tickets on a thread on the Waterford forum and it got me to thinking about the season ticket.

Now that we are into the Championship, and the few early teething problems with the season ticket have been long sorted, it has to be said fair play to the GAA, what fantastic value!

Season ticket cost - €75 (Waterford Hurling)
    7 x €15 league games - €105
bonus free entry to the league final - €25
    Munster semi final - €30
reduction for Munster Semi final reply - €5.

Thats a saving so far of €95! more than 100%. Also the seats for the games in Thurles were great, plus there's the handiness of not having to worry about getting tickets, Munster final tickets sorted well in advance. And also the real bonus of being able to get some 'guest' tickets also.

Hats off to the GAA, it was a long time coming. I'm just amazed the offer didnt have more takers, if memory serves me correctly only 2 counties sold out the 250 allocation.

For those that dont one - get one next year!

Yeah in fairness, credit where it's due. Bar one or two teething problems, it's been a great idea from the GAA and one I hope they will continue.

I was the Season Tickey guinea pig in our family and there are all planning on getting one next year.

KevIrl - did you have any hassle with the seats in Semple for the League Final? Everyone with season tickets had allocated seat numbers but the stewards were telling people to sit where they liked! Lead to a fair bit of confusion.

    They are great.

I have one for the Dubs football team and it is great value.

The seats in Croker are in lower cusack (305) and great seats.

Would recommend one to anybody who goes to games on regular basis.

Nah I had no problems in Semple Mick. I think though that the one area they might look to improve is the allocation of tickets for the championship games, would be nice to have assigned seat numbers before getting to the ground. Minor thing though.

AFAIK the plan is to continue it next year, with this years season ticket holders getting the right of first refusal for a ticket.

It was only a small problem on the day, and down to the stewards more so than anything else.

Really hope they do continue it. For something they didn't really promote, there's always been a good queue at the season ticket stile for any game I've gone to.

And even better is that its limited to 250 per county per code. I'm deffo renewing next year - fantastic initiative. However I do have gripes about seating allocations but I'm sure that'll get better. And with the qualifiers this weekend the tickets €15 not €20 for the stand. Its about time the all-weather supporter got something out of it.

My Dad and his mate got theirs and used them for every game so they were happy out. In fairness it recognises the fair weather from the all weather fan.
