Hi, just wondering did anybody see Sutherlands fight last nite?

If you did, how do you think he did? I know he won, which was most likely but would you notice much of a difference from when he first turned pro?

I know its not that long since he did take the leap into the paid ranks, but seen as hes now 27 I really thought he would be fighting every month, in 4-6 rounders just to get the bouts under his belt.

So what did you guys think?

it was the worst display he's had imo, he was way to easy to hit and quite 1 dimensional-he was meant to fight again next wk but that will be off because the cut he recieved.

I'm just not sold on Darren at all. Paul, it is what you saw from watching it
that bothers me. He's very predictable, hittable and one dimensional and that "power"
aint gonna' get him too far. He needs more

Really, thats disappointing. Was hoping he would make real progress, and judging by the way Maloney talks him up I thought he was really making strides.Obviously not, Thanks lads.

I didn't get to see this fight but saw his previous one where most felt he looked impressive, his opponent (who took DeGale to a decision) could not land anything on him and was totally outclassed.
May have just been a bad night for him, I wouldn't write him off (although the lads are right about being very dependent on power)

It wasnt a terrible performance, i though Darren was a bit shocked at how
competitive his opponent was, Darren showed some good timing and put
some lovely combinations together. But his defense was terible, he seemed willing to be hit and did not move out of range after scoring with a combination.

Don't ever listen to anything Maloney says. He's notorious for coming out with some stupid comments. I echo the sentiments about the performance about Darren, he will need to step it up in his next few.

I seen this coming from his last fight but didnt expect it to be highlighted at this stage.

The way I look at it is he got a sample of the consequences from being 1 dimensional. Its best to have this early on in the career though and as Johnny Nelson said its possibly the best thing that could have happend to him.

I dont see why he thinks he has to come out and "put on a show" as such. His style is naturally pleasing to watch.

Anyway a fight next week is most likely out and I wouldnt go putting him in with Jim Rock just yet either. Maybe in another year.

Sutherland will do well in the pros. Get regular fights in for the rest of the year including one decent contest preferably for an Irish title and take things from there.

My opinion of Darren seems to change a lot. He look a decent prospect before the Olympics, he was ****e at the games IMO but then in his last fight he looked pretty impressive. Now you guys are saying he was pretty bad last night.

It's not exactly going to plan with Darren - Maybe he needs to step up and fast, the challenge may bring the best out of him.

He can be quite inconsistent from what I have seen of him and his performance in Beijing and strange nonchalant attitude after a pretty dismal semi final was very odd.

He had a superb win over Blanco. Utter focus and determination and character and a great win in the bout before that and then, vs. James, he lacked so much, and it was obvious. No spirit or passion in that fight whatsoever!

As a pro, I feel that an Andy Lee would probably school Darren, if Andy
    is on song and fit.
