I had a boxing bag like you described, was like hitting concrete.....which is why I loved it. You get used to hitting concrete then smashing someones face in will be a piece of p1ss. Just stick at it and you'll get used to it eventually, then you'll be unstoppable.

Dont mind that advise! A bag should be firm but have a bit of give in it, otherwise you'll be riddled with arthritis when your older, a persons face is not like concrete, the main thing to look out for is good straps as there the 1st thing to go if there not good-then get a weight that your comfortable with and leather material is best if possible. Hope that helps.

The best bags are heavy, do not sway much when hit and are hard, but with some give in them. Cloth or rags packed tightly make the best punch bag.
Nothing worse that hitting a rock solid bag, it can hurt the hands. It needs give!

Try saying this in an Ivan Drago fake Russian accent. :D

It gave me a chuckle anyway.

lol, clown... Yeah, that's all well and good until that someone comes back in ten years and digs you around because you've made sh1t of your knuckles and now can't even make a fist anymore.

BMSL at the Ivan Drago reply...

I made one years ago that was class. I basically wrapped a wooden cylinder with cloth and padding, and upholstered it with thick leather (looked brilliant, found a guide online somewhere, chain was coming out of the top of the cylinder. It basically honoured all of the guideline requirements - Was quite heavy with not much sway, and was well padded to hit, but still firm. You could even go at it bare knuckle or just with wraps. I eventually gave it to a friend when he was getting his wee bro into kickboxing, and he's still using it at home as a competing natonal level 16 yo AFAIK.
