Justifying unemployment in an interview

Maybe somebody can help me with this but I have just been dismissed/made redundant. I think it fair to say it was a mixture of the two as the company had no work in the pipeline so the economic crisis was definitely a factor but also, I didn't get on very well with my boss, who made firing me very personal.

I am trying to think of the best way to explain my dismissal at an interview, as I am very outgoing, friendly and hard-working and therefore I do not want a potential employer to think otherwise.

Any ideas of how to spin this dismissal in an interview?
    Thanks xx

"My role was made redundant" no need to expand. It isn't a reflection on you or your performance and shouldn't be addressed as such.

If you think you were summarily dismissed then I would seek professional assistance.

Maybe a couple of years you would have to justify it, but not at the moment IMO.

Just say that due to the current economic climate you were unfortunately made redundant simply due to cutbacks in your previous workplace.
Don't even hint at the fact that you had an issue with your previous boss or that he had an issue with you because it doesn't sound professional & will reflect badly on you.

Also if they ask you what you have been doing tell them you have done/ are doing a distance learning course to brush up on your skills/ improve your skills. You didn't want to start a full time course because you were actively looking for work & wanted to be available to work immediately if you were successful but as you were not sure how long it would take to gain employment you wanted to do something that would benefit you in your next job & also give you something positive to focus on as you are used to working hard & meeting targets/ deadlines.

    Hope this helps.

The OP says "just made redundant", so she might not even have to explain a gap in the CV - just the fact she is currently out of work.

Any interview I've had has asked what I have been doing with my time. It's better to be prepared going in than trying to wing it. They might not ask but if they do at least she will have a fairly decent answer to give them.
I would wait for them to ask though.

    Hi.

In future interviews, just say that your role was made redundant and there was no more work to do.

Just say nothing negative about the experience, make sure to sound positive and it will be fine.

    +1

Make it all postive, postive, positive. With real conviction tell the interviewer that you we made redundant (no biggies these days)but you learned loads at your previous job and will bring the experience forwards with you to this new role.
    Best of luck.

    OP, which is it?

Redundancy is nothing to be worried about when applying for jobs. The unfortunate fact is that most people now looking for jobs are in this situation.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
