Astra Security Issues

Dunno if any of you are aware of this, but whilst messing around with an old 94 Astra recently (was mine, going for scrap), I tried out a myth about turning on the ignition with the hazard switch - simply remove the switch and plug it in upside down and the ignition will come on when pressed. Apparently down to Opel/Vauxhall's ropey wiring throughout the range from 92-97, it's the same with early Corsa's too supposedly. Some other marques have this problem too.

Anyone else tried it? It wont start the car, but will switch on the ignition. Luckily it's difficult to snap the steering lock without knackering the splines on the column. Plus I think joyriders these days are too lazy to bump start anymore
