Just spoke to the Met Office and at the moment Saturday looks like this :

Cloudy and dull early morning, brightening a little in the afternoon

Blustery, 15mph SW gusting to 25mph

    Frequent showers

    Much cooler temps

What a bummer after all the fine weather !! :(

Not too bothered about the showers but don't like the sound of that wind forecast. Another forecast I read was predicting 21 mph winds :(.

Well - at least we will have a fair wind behind us for the home leg.
At the moment it is pretty mixed cycling weather. no wind, but wet and humid.

The only thing to be mindful of... the container is almost identical to the chamois cream.

next time you speak to someone about the weather try god or something...

Looks like it'll be warm enough anyway despite the showers, so hopefully won't need extra gear. Maybe leave the white shorts at home though.

Looks good. It might turn out to be roughly the same as last year?

Pray tell why you spent actual money to get a weather forecast.

Unfortunately 'Accu'rate only by name a lot of the time :(

Well firstly it goes with me being a Photographer. I cant book models, locations, transport etc based on dodgy weather reports, a great way to lose money and clients. Thats why I call that met service, those guys have saved my bacon soooooo many times.

Secondly it saves me time from going through all the various web forecasts and trying to find a common pattern which might be wrong anyways, and not localised enough.

Of course all that time saved is now gone writing this .... :)

Met Eireann have their own website. Does the website omit some critical info that the paid service includes?

I'll be waiting until the 9:30pm forecast on Friday to decide on whether to bring sun cream or arm warmers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,088 ✭✭✭Murph100

Ah the 9.30pm forecast is fine for most places the night before, but it doesn't take into account the localised conditions, which there are tons of in Kerry, given the mountains and sea.

Ya often get beautiful sun all day on one side of the Reeks / Cahas and p1ssing rain all day on the other depending on cloud height and wind direction, complete opposites within 20 miles of each other.

Mountains down here are all covered in dense fog. Warm, humid and no wind. But everything is wet and heavy.

Best cycling gear in this is prob shorts and ss jersey. Too close for anything else.
I wore a base layer on a cycle yday and really suffered with heat.

IIRC it bucketed down on the day before the ROK last year and was grand on the day. We might get so lucky again.

Skin doesn't absorb rain so as long as the temp is okay, less is more.

Have a look on here:- http://www.xcweather.co.uk/GB/forecast gives a forecast for wind speed and direction, if it's correct then Killarney-Killorglin and Kenmare-Killarney will have wind assistance
