Call quality is excellent, tried to a landline and also to another skype connection.

Am tempted to jailbreak mine but I've heard negative things about it reducing battery life and OS 3.0 running significantly slower post jailbreak.

TBH I havnt noticed, i did notice battery life going down when SSH was constantly running, however I have toggled that off and it seems to be okay.

Just to note, I jaikbroke my iPhone 3g 3.0 last night. I already had Skype installed on it. All I needed to install was the VOIPOver3G package from Cydia and Skype is now working without wireless. I tried a few test calls to my land line and it worked fine. I'll try a real call to a landline later on today and let you know how the call quality is.

have been using this since it was released. have been talking to a friend of mine who is in Thailand at the moment and the quality is great. i found at home that the quality was probably better over 3g than using my wifi.

great app and using it over 3g is class

jesus your right! I gave up using skype over wifi at home, the delay was too bad....just tried it on the iphone over 3g and even to another mobile it was perfect!

Yep, I had a 15 minute real conversation to a landline over 3G and the call quality was fine. I think it took a couple of seconds for the connection to kick in but once that happened it was great. I'll try a call to a mobile later, fingers crossed that's also okay so I can ring my mates back in Dublin for a fraction of the price.

What kind of settings are you guys running to get the most out of your battery life with the iphone and skype?
