Anyone recommend any courses near Mizen Head in West Cork? Bantry Bay seems to be the closest; anyone a member there or played it?

Bantry Bay's your closest 18 hole alright. Skibbereen and Kenmare are not far away either. I didn't play any 9 hole courses but I'm told Glengarriff has great views (Garinish Island is down the road too and well worth a trip if you want to do something other than golf).

Bantry Bay is a spectacular location for a course - the views are breathtaking - and the course is impressive too. There are several long holes and the greens will bemuse you all day (good luck on the 14th). It's well worth a visit. Official green fees last year were 40 to 55 euro but I imagine these will have dropped like everywhere else.

Unfortunately West Cork isn't blessed with great courses, bantry is only alright to be honest. Certainly a nice location but the course itself is weak. Skibbereen is another 18 hole but again its only fair at best.

bantry is the best of those 3
glengariff is v short 9 hole could play 5 iron and 9-pw off all par 4's, be ok for a quick 9 on a fri evening or if you have a few non golfers heading out for a scramble it would be ok for that, but absolutely no golf test

skibb is one course to definately give a miss 9 holes across the road have to be the worst addition i've ever had to play..sorry just hate the place
how they get interclub competitions beats the sh1t out of me

bantry is ok a tough enough test if its windy
