    Hi

I am marrying Irish man in September and we will have wedding party in Poland. However I would like to bring in some Irish wedding customs/traditions to this party
Can anyone enlighten me on this matter?
Are there any customs at all at the reception?

    thanks for sharing.

nah, it seems that the Irish (sorry for generalisation) are fairly unimaginative when it comes to receptions.
We're having our Irish wedding in Germany, and the Germans are planning games (don't get me started, but that's the way it is), speeches, probably the Chicken Dance, and God knows what else. (they have some 'fun' traditions like 'kidnapping the bride', veil dances (where all the women grab bits of the veil), and other such horrible pasttimes...

The only thing I can think off for Irish receptions is betting at speeches, the grand entrance when all the guests are seated, and that's it, really (based on loads of weddings I went to here).
You could try and have a little set dancing piece, or maybe an Irish song or two. Oh, and a curfew at 2.30, with the national anthem. hehehe.

looks like Polish customs will be enough. ours are similar to German as you already mentioned, but we don't do speaches, and do not kidnap bride :)

What about throwing the bouquet or the garter thing? Don't know if their Irish or not, I did neither!
Maybe some of your H2B's sisters / cousins could do an irish dance, bring the costume and change into it?
