Not singling you out by any means OP but you know know what annoys me about hurling? Well sport in general but hurling in waterford is particuarlly bad imo.

It's how relitively not allot of people can go too league games and even the early rounds of the two championships but as soon as the final comes "supporters" crawl out of the woodwork.

Now, i'm not takig the moral high ground. I haven't been to a game in few years i just don't have a major interest even though i'd watch them on telly and know all the players etc.

I knew someone last year who had a nightmare getting a ticket for the final and he went to pretty much every game that year.

I always thought it would be an idea for people who have slogged out the year get "priority" ahead of people who knows someome who plays for mount sion for example.

    Anyway, senseless rant over :)

Maybe he went to these games, as tickets are much easier to get on the gate?

Some people think that you have to lick the ar^e off some old pr1ck in a GAA club just to be considered a loyal supporter

Where did the OP say they attended no games?

According to WLR, no tickets will be on sale in Walsh Park and instead they're being sold through the clubs and Ticketmaster.

He didn't, i'm just making a general point for dicussion.

EDIT: Ah, I see now where the confusion lies, I been sick out since the weekend so my posting is only semi-lucid. I didn't mean "Single out" the OP I mean't Refer to him

I got 2 tickets for the terrace on ticket master yesterday. The tickets for the 2 stands are terrible on tickets master. only the far cornors of each stand available. Reckon GAA block book these for the clubs.

Ziedth, Are you referring to me as OP?? My kids and I were at some of the league matches and the last two semi's so I don't think I'm crawling out of the wood work. I just want to have tickets beforehand before dragging the family to Thurles.

I have been looking on Ticketmaster and yes the stand tickets are bad but my 8 year old hates the terrace. Not to worry, I'll keep an ear out.:)

One of the lads I work with is involved with the county board. I'll ask him if I see him. Meant to find out myself actually. Might just go with the terrace on Ticketmaster though.

    Ziedth,

The GAA did launch such a scheme this year - The Season ticket (http://seasonticket.gaa.ie/aboutthegaaseasonticket.html). For €75 it entitles the holder for entrance to all the league games (7) and the first game in the championship. The holder also gets a ticket for every championship game their county plays after that. The ticket is scanned at each game, and if you attend 60% of the games(league and championship) and your county gets to an All Ireland final then you are certain of a ticket. There's also a few other perks.

I have one and its fantastic value, a great idea and long overdue in the GAA.

There was 250 Waterford hurling season tickets available and they didnt even sell out!

That's brilliant. Will definitely get one of them for the next season.

You know how you say "the holder also gets a ticket for every championship game after that", how do you get these tickets and are they always stand ot terrace or what?

Sounds like great value in fairness.

EDIT: Just read the link which explains most of that!

Cross posted from a post I made in the GAA forum. Here's the breakdown to date......

Season ticket cost - €75 (Waterford Hurling)
    7 x €15 league games - €105
bonus free entry to the league final - €25
    Munster semi final - €30
reduction for Munster Semi final reply - €5.

Thats a saving so far of €95! more than 100%. Also the seats for the games in Thurles were great, plus there's the handiness of not having to worry about getting tickets, Munster final tickets sorted well in advance. And also the real bonus of being able to get some 'guest' tickets also.

You autoamtically get charged on whatever card you used to buy the ticket in the first place. It being a season ticket you HAVE to buy a ticket for all games outside of the league group plus first championship game - Apart from the All Ireland and Provincial finals, these come with a €5 reduction

The tickets are seating, not terrace, and in a good area. For the league there are no assigned tickets but for the championship so far I've been in section 206 of the O Coinneán Stand in Semple, which is pretty good. The section in Croker is 305 and 306 of the Cusack.

They gave a bonus also of free admission for all hurling season ticket holders for the national league final, and same for the football. Also as I mentioned above you can get guest tickets for friends, which came in handy for the Munster final

There's no designated Waterford and Tipp terraces. Not officially anyway. I only went with the Town End since the lads of UTD seem to think the majority of Waterford fans will be that end. Regardless, it's inevitable there's going to be a mixture of both fans at each terrace.

Waterford are in the Killianan end and Tipp are in the town end, according to the Munster council anyways.

I'm a tipp man and bought 3 killinan end tickets expecting us to be in our own terrace but the Munster council go and take us out of the tipp terrace in Thurles.

The atmosphere will suffer imo as a lot of Tipp people will be in Kilinan end and a lot of Waterford people will be in Town end
