Sick golden retriever...very worried :(

    Hi,

Need a bit of advice with regards vets. My parents have a golden retriever who is now eleven. Last year he start wretching violently and would continue doing this for days...even when his stomach was completely empty. The noise he would make was awful and was really upsetting to watch. He also became quite "depressed" and wouldn't move about much. We brought him to the vet we have used for almost 25years and his remedy was to give him steroid shots (Our previous dog was given steroids shots which kept her going for a few months until eventually she died)....

He recovered quickly and seemed fine for a while. Problem is the same problem is back now and my parents are wondering where to bring him now. Although our usual vet is lovely etc and we've been with him years we're just worried he'll give him the same "wonder" shot treatment and won't actually investigate the problem...

Could anyone please advice on a good vet in the south dublin (rathfarnham area) or whether anyone has had a goldie with similar problems. We're very worried about him, he's such a pet :(

Well, a new vet will want his medical history no?

We use Argyle & Bainbridge (Dundrum or Stillorgan) for our dogs and they seem really good to us.
