what wires are needed to connect my macbook - 2009 old model 2 ghz white 2 gib ram to my tv

the tv is a ferguson and has two scart connections and the red, yellow and white wires that are the same as the scart?
there is a circular ''s'' slot beside the audio and video yed, yellow an dwhite wires and the earphone slot

i dont know if i need mini dvi/vga not mini to whatever

so help would be appreciated because i cant afford paying the extra 20 euro for an extra wire which is of no use to me

how is the quality - is it as good as a external big pc monitor?

It's an old tv with only composite connections so afaik you'd need an Apple mini-DVI to video adapter and then an s-video to SCART cable.

I wouldn't really recommend it tbh. It will look like s**t. Video will be watchable though. Useless as an external monitor. Not worth it imo.

+1 - unless you were connecting to an HDTV or a big PC monitor, connecting to an old TV (regardless of its' size) via composite will look terrible for most things except standard definition video which will be watchable but for most intents and purposes, the MacBook's display will be way better. And as Sad Professor said, it'll be useless as a monitor, completely unusable.

    thanks

can you buy the second on the apple site? i cant see it

well i wont really need great video - just using it as a larger screen sometimes and as a sound thing for playing music and podcasts etc through the tv

video just needs to be watchable/see-able

watching dvds would be nice - but if not possible i wouldnt be greatly bothered but would go to lenghts if possible

The Professor's on the ball here. The resolution is so low on CRTs and using composite (yellow for video) or s-video doesn't deliver the best possible picture -- a fully digital connector like DVI or HDMI would be better where the TV also has these connectors.
